William Andrew

Every life has a story… William Andrew was born in October of 1840 in Ohio. William Andrew wore a Union uniform during the Civil War along with fellow soldiers of Company G, 10th Illinois. He married Mary Eleanor Packard. She was born in Iowa on December 3, 1848. The couple was married after the Civil War and had at least five children: Frank (1868-1882), William (1869-1931), Clara (1871-1963), Margaret (1880-1970), and Charles (1884-1964). William Andrew died April 11, 1911 at the age of 70. His loving wife, Mary Eleanor, died March 7, 1944 at the age of 95. Both of Mary Eleanor's parents are buried at Friend. William and Mary’s children, Frank, William, Margaret and Charles, are buried at Andrew Cemetery too. William Andrew was the older brother of Sylvester Andrew (the man who started the cemetery).
