Richard Kiddle's House

Perhaps not everyone will recognize Richard Kiddle’s name but his home is definitely recognizable in Friend. Richard Kiddle’s house, listed in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, is an example of Second Empire style (aka Napoleon III style). This is a highly eclectic style of architecture and decorative arts. The style uses elements of different historical styles but made innovative use of “modern” materials, such as iron framework and glass skylights. This style flourished during the reign of Napoleon III (during 1852-1870). Kiddles’ home was built in 1886.
